Hi Everyone! It's so good to be back and able to stamp. Medical issues just take so much out of you! I'm fine, just as you get older, it takes longer to heal.
Today I want to share this great gift idea. Lisa Sommerville designed a holder that you can put a test tube in. She used Martha Stewart's Test Tubes that could be found in the Halloween Section at the M store. I couldn't find them so I just ordered regular test tubes from Online Science Mall. Mine are much smaller (16MM x 125MM) and will NOT hold M&M's though. You can see Lisa's holders here. She also has a diagram on how to make them.
I just love how these look! I made mine in a Halloween theme, but you could make them for any occasion. The candy on the left are Skittles and the candy on the right are Reece's Pieces.
Here's how to make them.
Supplies you need:
4" x 11" Card Stock
Designer Series Paper
1 ¼” x 2 5/16”
1 ¼” x 3 1/8”
Ribbon: 6”
First, score 1 1/4" on both long sides. Then on the short side, score @ 1/2", 1 3/4", 4 1/4", 5 1/2" and 8".
When you are scoring at the 8", score from the 1 1/4" score line to the outer edge of the card stock. Now cut your scored piece like the pictures and you can also place your designer paper and tape as shown. Make sure you use sticky tape.
Now you need to punch a hole for the test tube. You will fold the small tab up and center the 1/2" circle punch in the center of the square and punch.
This is what your punch should look like.
My test tubes are slightly bigger than the 1/2" circle so I snipped the circle 8 times (North, East, West, South and then in between each of those snips), about 1/8" and the test tube fits very nicely inside.
Fold all the creases and practice putting the box together before you actually take the tape liner off. It will make your life much easier. Now you're free to decorate it anyway you want!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
